Protecting Your Interests In Divorce And All Family Law Matters

Even if divorce is the best possible solution for your future, you are still facing an emotionally challenging time in your life. The Somerset County divorce lawyers at our firm can guide you through this trying time.

At Weiss & Weiss, LLC, we work to take a full history of our client’s divorce-related issues during an initial consultation. We want to understand your goals, your motivations and how we can help you reach a successful resolution. Often, we find mediation is a wonderful way to reach an amicable resolution for both parties. We believe in mediation or negotiation as a process for parties to resolve many of the disputes that will arise in a divorce case.

Our firm guides clients through many issues related to family law, including:

  • Divorce
  • Prenuptial agreements

Changes To New Jersey Divorce Laws

In the last several years, New Jersey has changed from the 18-month waiting period in no-fault divorce to the notion of irreconcilable differences, which allows the lawsuit to be filed within six months. The vast majority of the divorces filed through our office utilize irreconcilable differences as a category for divorce. Schedule a consultation with a lawyer in our office to learn more about your options.

Throughout our long experience, we have learned how to approach the emotionally traumatic experiences that our clients are suffering through. We strive to make our clients as comfortable as possible as we remove as much stress and worry from their shoulders as we can. We also understand that there will be moments throughout the case where the situation demands that we act aggressively on behalf of our clients. We are comfortable filling these roles, and our clients trust us to do everything in our power to help them.

Juvenile Matters

In New Jersey, juvenile matters are handled through family court rather than superior court. The goal of family court is to protect your minor child, but based on the severity of the charge, the prosecutor might recommend that the case be tried in superior court. It is important in these situations to involve your attorney immediately so we can fight to protect the rights and the future of your child.
